The End is Nigh
Good luck to all the PDs heading up to Coffs Harbour this weekend for the National OC1/OC2 Titles. As well as being a sensational ocean racing venue, the Coffs Harbour’s location midway between Sydney and Queensland will see the best from both states battling it out for the top prize.

The PD Single Craft Games
Start sharpening up those egg and spoon race skills and sign up now for the inaugural PD Single Craft Games, Friday, Dec 19, Kirribilli.

Now for the Off Season…
The single craft season draws to a close next week with the last session on Dec 21 from Watsons Bay. In the New Year the focus will move to dragon boat and OC6.

Some people have expressed interest in continuing single craft sessions through the remainder of the season. Please see or email Billy your thoughts on what kind of sessions you’d like to be doing and when.

The Christmas-New Year break will see us back on the water from Monday January 5. What form the sessions take will be based on your feedback.

Training

What should I be doing?
Carmela, Despina, Fabio, Ernesta, Pablo and Juan are all counting down the sleeps to this weekend’s Nationals Road Trip!

Everyone’s looking to get something different out of the nationals. For Ernesta this is what she’s been working hard towards all season. Pablo and Juan were originally just in it for the road trip but now can’t wait for their first downwind race as they team up for the relay. It’s Despina’s first season of OC1 so she’s keen to give the short course a crack and get amongst the nationals atmosphere… plus someone’s got to keep an eye on Fabio.

For the gang this last week is all about maxs… max speed, max recovery and max hydration.

Max recovery will come from hitting the hay a little earlier than normal each night as well as dropping the training volume to do just two sessions.

Max speed will come from using the additional rest to hit the two 70min Speed & Endurance sessions with everything they’ve got. These sessions will be all about quality. Naturally the free-speed warm-up routine will play a key role.

Max hydration will come from keeping fluids up from two nights before the race right up until race time.
