Stay tuned for the next instalment of the Three Peaks Challenge…

How it Works
We paddle to the base of the first peak. Throw on shoes and run the peak. Once the fastest runners have reached the top everybody turns where they are and heads straight back down. We then paddle to the next peak with faster paddlers taking a longer course. We meet at the base, throw on shoes, tackle the next one, and so on.

In each session we do a minimum of three peaks. The entire session is done at a constant Level 2 pace on the water and on the runs with quick transitions in between.

Each week we do a different combination of peaks. See below for peak options.

Why Three Peaks?
The off-season is a great time to not only improve paddling base but to work on your general fitness. It’s also a great time to try something different. The Three Peak Challenge ticks all those boxes and offers a spectacular sunrise over Middle Harbour at every session!

Where/When
The Three Peaks Challenge will be run from Balmoral each Tuesday for six weeks commencing June 2, 2009.
Sessions are 5:45am on the water and go for 80-90min.
Launch near where the OC6s are. See Contact Us > Training Locations for exact details.

What You’ll Need
A single craft, running shoes and as always a lifejacket and front and back lights to give you 360 degree visibility.
If you don’t have a bungee on your craft to carry your shoes you can put them on your lap, in a backpack or tie the laces and throw them around your neck. Club canoes are available however you will need to be able to transport them to/from Balmoral.

What if I’m not a very good runner?
You can walk, skip or two-step the hills. It’s up to you. When you see the faster runners coming back down the hill just turn where you are and head back to arrive at the canoes together. The aim is to keep challenging yourself each week by pushing a little further up the peaks.

For non-members a $60 donation for the 6 sessions to the PDs sponsored charity Oasis (The Salvation Army Youth Support Network).
