Congrats to Sarah M, Eugene, Charmian, Churn, Craig, Sally, Sou, Di, Matt, Christophe, Stuart, Phil, Andrew, Leesa, Graeme, Rachel, Dave B, Meising, Derek, Dominic, Damon, Glen, Suz, Sarah H, El, Kath, Jo and Suzy who have all taken the opportunity to kick start their single craft paddling by doing the PD OC1 Intro Course. If you would like to join these guys in getting into single craft paddling please contact Billy. Also a special congrats to Rachel, Sarah, Jo, Phil, Mel, Michelle, Norm, Charmian, Russ, Greg and Justin who have all used the off-season to have a crack at their first single craft race. You can read about their experiences here and here. This sets them up well to hit the next single craft season running when it gets underway in August. If you would also like to do the same there are two excellent opportunities over the coming months… PaddleNSW Marathon10 is a flatwater race series taking in many of the scenic waterways in and around Sydney. There are always 10km, 15km and 20km course options. The longer distances are split into 6 divisions by your speed rather than type of craft. This means you’ll always get to challenge yourself by duking it out with people of a similar pace. It’s a fun relaxed atmosphere with lots of different craft and people of all sorts of background and experience taking part. Check out the PD calendar for upcoming dates. Every Saturday morning the Balmoral Blast kicks off at 7am. The Blast is a handicapped flatwater time trial with courses ranging from 8 to 12 km. There are mainly skis involved but they have separate categories for OC1s and OC2s. It costs $5 to enter and they have computer timing with results up on the website instantly. |
It’s a Wrap!
Congrats to everyone that stepped out of their comfort zone to take on single craft paddling in the 2008 season. It’s never an easy step to suddenly find yourself the stroke, engine room and steerer all at once. Once you do though there’s no turning back! Congrats in particular to everyone that set themselves a single craft goal. Regardless of whether you achieved it or not the next step is the same… Take out 10 mins to think about the season just past. Make a note of two things you learnt and two things you’d like to do differently next season. Use these to make your next single craft plans or to nail the goal that got away on you. Off-Season Training Ideas The single craft off-season is here and the focus now moves to dragon boat and OC6. For those still doing some single craft sessions this is a great time to review the things we covered over the season. Before you do a session logon and check out one of the tips below: Sep 14 – Setting Goals |
